Tuesday 30th June 2020 will go down as quite a momentous day for Cornerstone Partnership, as we officially handed over our 100th property into the service.
Although Cornerstone was founded in 2016, it wasn’t until February 2018 that the 1st properties were put into the service as part of our contract with the Salvation Army in Coventry. So, fast forward 2 years, and to now be sitting at 100 is quite a special moment, and something the whole team are incredibly proud of.
We have a mission to protect a share of the housing market, so that those who need it most will have a place to call home. Achieving 100 properties is great, but what’s more important is the fact that these properties have been able to support hundreds of families over this time, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
What also made our 100th handover significant, is the fact that this is one of our move on properties, in partnership with Coventry City Council. What this means is that the family who have moved into this property will be able to stay there for as long as they wish, at a rate that is truly affordable. Our move on homes are capped at Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates, so the cost of rent is FULLY covered by housing benefit – something which is particularly rare in the housing sector, and helps prevent our tenants from potentially falling into financial difficulty.
Achieving this milestone wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful support from our team, partners, investors and networks – we’re very fortunate to be working with some incredible local authorities and charities, who are just as passionate about making a difference as we are. It’s a very powerful shared vision.
But this is just the beginning. The goal is to achieve 1000 homes by 2035, and now we can say we’re a tenth of the way there! One thing is for sure, we’ll be sharing the journey with you every step of the way.
